The 20 Best Restaurants in Coconut Grove: A Local's Guide
Coconut Grove's dining scene has undergone a remarkable transformation. What was once a neighborhood with a handful of reliable standbys has become one of Miami's most exciting food destinations, with everything from Michelin-pedigree newcomers to beloved institutions that have been serving the community for decades. It's one of the biggest reasons our buyers tell us they fell in love with the Grove.
As Coconut Grove realtors and residents, we eat in this neighborhood almost every day. We've taken clients to celebratory dinners after closing on their dream home, hosted friends at neighborhood gems, and had quiet Tuesday night meals at our go-to spots. This isn't a list we pulled together from Yelp reviews. It's our honest, personal guide to the restaurants that make Coconut Grove one of the best dining neighborhoods in Miami.
Fine Dining and Special Occasions
1. Carbone Vino
Major Food Group brought their legendary Italian dining brand to Coconut Grove, and it's everything you'd expect: impeccable service, a buzzing atmosphere, and dishes that deliver on the hype. The veal parmesan is a showstopper, and the wine program is one of the deepest in Miami. Dress code applies (no shorts, no sneakers, no baseball caps). This is where you go for a special night out.
Location: CocoWalk, 3015 Grand Ave
Best for: Date night, celebrations, impressing out-of-town guests
2. Ariete
Chef Michael Beltran's flagship restaurant is where Cuban-American comfort food meets fine dining technique. The menu is deeply personal, drawing on Beltran's Miami upbringing, and the results are extraordinary. The Foie Gras Burger has become one of the most talked-about dishes in Miami, but don't sleep on the pork shoulder with plantains or the seasonal tasting menu. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between special and approachable. Go early and order the duck.
Location: 3540 Main Hwy
Best for: Foodies, date night, anyone who appreciates a chef with a point of view
3. Amal
Contemporary Lebanese cuisine in a beautiful CocoWalk setting. The menu is built around fresh ingredients and clean, distinct flavors. The truffle rakakat, crispy eggplant with labneh, and pistachio kabab are all exceptional. Upstairs, Level 6 is a rooftop bar with some of the best cocktails and views in the neighborhood. It's become one of the hottest spots in the Grove.
Location: CocoWalk, 3390 Mary St
Best for: Groups, date night, rooftop drinks
4. Ossobuco
This wood-fired steakhouse from Chef and Grill Master Guillermo Eleicegui has quickly become one of our favorite spots in the Grove. The focus is on open-fire cooking done right, with dry-aged steaks, creative grilled dishes, and beautiful charred vegetables. Don't miss their Tuesday Parrilla night, where the kitchen goes all out with a special grilled menu that feels like a backyard asado elevated to fine dining. It's also a MICHELIN Guide restaurant, which tells you everything you need to know about the quality.
Location: 2801A Florida Ave
Best for: Steak lovers, Tuesday Parrilla night, a special dinner out
5. Sapore di Mare
This family-run Italian seafood restaurant on Grand Avenue feels like stepping into a trattoria on the Amalfi Coast. Owners Giorgia and Matteo bring incredible attention to quality, importing ingredients directly from Italy. The cacio e pepe is a must and the fresh fish specials change daily. It's small and it gets busy, so make a reservation. You'll leave feeling like you just had the best meal of the week. We personally love their grilled calamari!
Location: 3111 Grand Ave
Best for: Date night, Italian seafood, a meal that feels like a trip to Italy
Casual Neighborhood Favorites
6. Le Bouchon du Grove
Over 30 years in the Grove and still going strong. This authentic French bistro is tiny, loud, and absolutely wonderful. You'll get a complimentary glass of sparkling wine upon arrival, and from there it's classic French comfort food done right: escargot, duck confit, steak frites, creme brulee. Tables are elbow-to-elbow and the walls are lined with wine bottles. It's the kind of restaurant every neighborhood wishes it had.
Location: 3430 Main Hwy
Best for: A weeknight dinner that feels like a mini trip to Paris
7. Greenstreet Cafe
If Coconut Grove had a living room, this would be it. Greenstreet has been a neighborhood institution for decades, and its sprawling terrace on Main Highway is the ultimate people-watching spot. Come for breakfast (the pancakes are enormous), stay for lunch, and come back for happy hour cocktails. It's not trying to be fancy. It's just reliably good and endlessly enjoyable.
Location: 3468 Main Hwy
Best for: Breakfast, brunch, people-watching, meeting a friend for a drink
8. Glass & Vine
Set inside Peacock Park with views of the bay and actual peacocks wandering by, Glass & Vine might have the most beautiful restaurant setting in Miami. The menu is contemporary American with an emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Think sea scallops, seared salmon, and cornflake-crusted French toast at brunch. Named Best Place to Dine with Dogs by Miami New Times.
Location: 2820 McFarlane Rd (Peacock Park)
Best for: Brunch, outdoor dining, bringing your dog, bringing your kids.
9. Koko by Bakan
Nestled under the Grove's natural tree canopy, Koko transports you to Mexico with handcrafted tortillas, elevated tacos, and an absurd display wall of over 400 mezcals and tequilas. The outdoor bar and cacti garden create a lively, immersive atmosphere that's unlike anything else in the neighborhood. We personally love ordering the main from the "Llena" section and the aguachile ceviche.
Location: CocoWalk, 3015 Grand Ave
Best for: Margaritas, group dinners, a fun night out
10. Bombay Darbar
A Grove institution for Indian food, Bombay Darbar has a devoted following for good reason. The menu covers all the classics (samosas, tikka masala, biryani) prepared with care and authenticity. The vegetarian options are particularly strong. It's consistently good, reasonably priced, and the kind of place you find yourself craving every couple of weeks.
Location: 2901 Florida Ave
Best for: Takeout, a reliable weeknight dinner
11. Los Felix
A celebration of Mexican cuisine rooted in the ancient Milpa farming tradition. Los Felix brings real corn tortillas to Miami, something that's rarer than you'd think. The moles are outstanding, and the menu explores Mexican flavors with depth and respect.
Location: CocoWalk
Best for: Authentic Mexican, a meal with substance
Brunch and Breakfast
12. Sadelle's
Major Food Group's all-day brunch concept at CocoWalk is a dream for bagel lovers. The signature bagel tower is perfect for groups, and the menu spans everything from smoked fish platters to fluffy pancakes and caviar service. Named an essential brunch spot by both Harper's Bazaar and Cosmopolitan.

Slow-fermented, hand-rolled bagels that are boiled and baked to perfection. El Bagel draws early crowds for a reason. The sandwiches are some of the best in the city. Quick, affordable, and genuinely delicious.

14. Isabelle's at the Ritz Carlton
For a more upscale brunch experience, Isabelle's offers bottomless mimosas, bloody marys, and bellinis alongside dishes like amaretto French toast and chicken and waffle tacos. It's indulgent in the best way.
Location: Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove
Best for: Celebratory brunch, a special morning out
Quick Bites and Hidden Gems
15. Si Papa (3190)
A 24-seat lasagna bar. Yes, you read that right. No menu, just one dish: a traditional Bolognese lasagna inspired by the chef's memories of cooking with his daughter. There's also a vegetarian version and tiramisu for dessert. Lasagna is around $15, and it's one of the most charming dining experiences in the Grove.
Location: 3190 Commodore Plaza (next to Lokal)
Best for: A unique, intimate meal
16. Chevre at Ziggurat
This one is a fun story. The team behind the Ziggurat new construction project on Grand Avenue (exclusively represented by our brokerage, ONE Sotheby's International Realty) partnered with Chevre, the cult-favorite gourmet sandwich and cheese shop, to create a temporary pop-up inside the Ziggurat Sales Center. You can grab one of their incredible loaded sandwiches (the La Italiana with mortadella, whipped ricotta, and truffled honey is our pick), browse curated cheeses and wines, and check out the future of Coconut Grove real estate all in one stop. It won't be here forever, so go while you can.
Location: 3065 Fuller St (Ziggurat Sales Center)
Best for: Gourmet sandwiches, wine, a peek at the Grove's future
17. Emissary Cafe
An all-day cafe on Mary Street with a strong coffee program and locally sourced, seasonal food. Start with a cappuccino and enjoy organic breakfast plates, sandwiches, and fresh pastries in a bright, welcoming space. The cozy corners are perfect for laptop work or a casual catch-up.
Location: 3308 Mary St
Best for: Coffee, breakfast, a productive morning out
New and Noteworthy
18. AVA MediterrAegean
One of the newest additions to the Grove's dining scene, AVA brings Mediterranean and Greek cuisine to the former Peacock Garden location. The brunch prix fixe (three courses plus dessert for $45) is generous and well-executed. The space is stunning, making it one of the prettiest restaurants in the neighborhood.
Location: 2889 McFarlane Rd
Best for: Brunch, Mediterranean cravings, a beautiful setting
19. Omakai
A casual multi-course sushi experience at a great price point. The Oma Deluxe (an appetizer, ten pieces of nigiri, and two handrolls for $50) is the sweet spot. Lunch is even more affordable at $40 for eight pieces.
Location: Coconut Grove
Best for: Sushi lovers on a budget
20. Shore to Door
Part fish market, part weekend restaurant with no menu. The cook tells you what came in off the boat that morning. It could be fried grouper bites, whole yellowtail snapper, or stone crabs. It's as fresh as it gets.
Location: 3380 SW 37th Ave
Best for: Seafood purists, a unique experience
Our Go-To Coconut Grove Dining Tips
After years of eating in this neighborhood almost daily, here are a few tips we always share with clients who are new to the Grove.
Make reservations on weekends. They're essential on Friday and Saturday evenings, especially at Carbone Vino, Ariete, and Amal. Weeknight dining is generally more relaxed and easier to snag a table.
Plan for parking. Main Highway and the area around CocoWalk fill up fast on Friday and Saturday nights. Consider taking the Freebee (it's free!) or use valet when available.
Go early for brunch. Sadelle's, El Bagel, and Greenstreet all get packed by 11 AM on weekends.
Don't overlook the smaller spots. Some of the best food in the Grove comes from the places you'd walk right past: a gourmet sandwich shop inside a sales center, a tiny Italian trattoria, a 24-seat lasagna bar.
Living the Coconut Grove Lifestyle

When your neighborhood restaurant lineup rivals the best food cities in the country, and you can walk to most of them on a beautiful evening, it's a quality of life that's hard to beat. It's also one of the biggest things that sets the Grove apart from other Miami neighborhoods when buyers are comparing options.
